ShamRoK is the musical heart of the Irish band, Ring of Kerry. The three members of this core group are Paul Blondell, Paul Imholte and Paul Cotton. Together, they play a wide range of the same energetic, and ruggedly beautiful Celtic music that Ring of Kerry is so known for; only -- in this trio format -- stripped to its essence.
Paul Blondell plays fiddle and sings. His musical background is very eclectic and he has a wonderful ear for melodies, harmonies, a good joke and the next great song.
Paul Imholte plays guitar, mandolin, violin, cello and nearly any other instrument with strings. He is a songwriter who has produced a wide range of musical forms. Many of these are recorded on his solo CDs.
Paul Cotton plays bodhran, dumbec, pennywhistle and sings. The founder and leader of Ring of Kerry, he came from Rock and Roll foundations, loves musical textures and excels in creating interesting and moving arrangements.
The heart, the core, the pulse; ShamRoK is essential Celtic music.
